Right now they are rebuilding the highway so it is even esier to get a ride. But over all nice place to get a ride to Münch. A lot of cars going slow and good visabailite.

Camped at Ammersee and got a lucky ride all the way to Graz, usually not too much traffic though

Direction:
West to Zurich

Sign:
ZURICH

Date:
11 OCT '09

Time:
About 11h

Weather:
Cloudy with some sun, mild/cool temperature

HOW TO GET THERE:
Take the S-Bahn (S8) to Neugilching. Walk along Landsberger Strasse about 400 meters to the entrance of the Autobahn. There really isn't a place to stop on then eingang (entrance), so I just hopped the Autobahn gate and hitched directly on the road. No police, since I got a ride in less than 10 minutes.

Good spot to go to Munich but also to A96 in direction of Lindau. There is a lot of space for cars to stop along the parking place.

Best times to go to Munich are with the commuters in the morning and the returning weekend guests on Sunday evening. Many people can drop you at some S-Bahn or U-Bahn station in Munich so you can go to your final destination.

If you go in the direction of Lindau try to go at least a little further than Landsberg. (the gas station and Rastplatz "Lechwiesen" is shortly after Landsberg).

Try to avoid holidays or Sunday during the day as there might be no or little relevant traffic.

2 of us came here in the morning after camping at Worthsee lake. Coming from the side road and jumping across the fence was tricky, the best spot was at the main gate.

The spot is just a toilet and Parking so not much traffic, but we managed to get a ride all the way to Switzerland after 30 min of asking around.

I accidentally got dropped here 2 times in 5 years. It was awful. The 96 Autobahn is only 26km from there but most cars are only going a short local distance. There is an Amazon factory nearby and the petrol station is full of Amazon vans who don't want to take you anywhere as they're working.
I waited 3 hours & 2 hours for a ride, and both times the kind people who took me went out of their way to get me out of there. I tried asking at the petrol station, MC and bakery, as well as standing at the roundabout (not the best place for cars to stop) with a 96 sign and without a sign. Try to avoid, although if you do end up there may you have better luck 🍀
